Spurs vs Arsenal - betting preview with Betfred

Fri 14 March 2014, 13:11|Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs have not lost this fixture in any of the last five seasons, with three wins in the last four.

While Spurs have suffered some mixed results recently Arsenal have also been struggling.

Moreover, the Gunners have lost their last two away matches and kept just one clean sheet in their last seven matches on the road.

Spurs have started to turn their home form around and have won four of their last five matches at White Hart Lane, keeping a clean sheet in each of those wins.

Spurs have had some disappointing results against the league’s elite this season but they’ve lost only one of five home matches against the current top seven.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have lost all three of their trips to the current top six and in the previous four seasons they’ve won just two of 20 trips to top-six finishers (W2-D6-L12).

With Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and now Mesut Ozil all ruled out this looks a great chance for Spurs to close the gap on their local rivals to just three points and the home win can be backed at a very tempting 2/1.

The North London derby hasn’t lacked for excitement in recent years with nine of the 11 league meetings since 2008/09 seeing at least three goals. With 10 of Arsenal’s last 15 trips to top-half teams having at least three goals, and nine of Spurs’ last 11 home matches against top-six sides seeing both teams score, we should expect another entertaining clash. Over 2.5 Goals looks well worth backing at 5/6.

Four times Emmanuel Adebayor has started against former club Arsenal and four times his team has won. Spurs have scored eight goals in Adebayor’s last five home games and he’s either scored or assisted on half of those. He’ll be hungry for another goal here and is available at 7/4.
