Spurs v West Ham - Mauricio's preview

25 October 2017|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino has labelled a derby against West Ham as ‘always important’ as we meet in the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium. connectd by EE, this evening (8pm).

We go head to head with the Hammers in the fourth round of the competition just a month after a 3-2 win at the London Stadium in the Premier League.

Mauricio is determined to continue the team’s momentum of 11 matches unbeaten in all competitions, including six wins in the last seven. "It’s a London derby against West Ham, always important,” he said.

“It’s true we come from a very busy period and we have a very busy period ahead with great games and it’s important to provide the team with freshness.

“We know it will be tough but it’s important to trust the squad and trust everyone to show they can play and help the team keep that momentum.

“It’s a great opportunity for the squad to show they are available to compete in different competitions.”

We've won three straight at Wembley with a statement 4-1 victory over Liverpool last time out on Sunday.

Mauricio added: “It was so important for us after a good performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League. Liverpool have one of the best squads in the Premier League and that result has to help us build our confidence at Wembley. For everyone, that result starts to make and to feel Wembley can be our home.”
