Spurs v Liverpool U21s - Ugo's preview

23 October 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Ugo Ehiogu expects our Under-21s to face a different kind of test to the one they experienced at Norwich last week when we host Liverpool in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League at Stevenage tonight (Friday, October 23).

We ran out 3-2 winners against the Canaries at Carrow Road last Thursday thanks to a good performance from a particularly young squad.

Under-21s Coach Ugo believes Liverpool will be another tough proposition at the Lamex Stadium this evening and says there could be extra emphasis on what goes on in midfield as we look to get the better of the Reds.

“It’s another big test for us tonight,” he said. “Liverpool like to keep the ball, they like to control possession and try to overload teams through the middle so we’ve got to be set for that.

“Previously when we’ve played Liverpool they’ve been a threat from midfield, so we’re looking forward to what will be a different sort of challenge to the one we had at Norwich.

“We’ve got a mixture of scholars and professionals in the squad so we’ll be looking for the experienced boys to step up and for the younger lads to grab their opportunity.”

Kick-off at Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium tonight is at 7pm – find ticket details here.
