Spurs v Liverpool - top five PL goals v Reds at the Lane

16 October 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

We've scored some crackers against Liverpool in the Premier League at the Lane - here are five of the best!

Watch all the goals at the top of the page and vote for your favourite in the poll.

Nayim - Spurs 2-0 Liverpool - October 31, 1992
Already detailed in our 'Magic Moment', Nayim walked onto Gary Mabbutt's header from Neil Ruddock's free-kick and thundered a volley past David James in the Liverpool goal. That sparked a run of four wins in six and we eventually finished eighth in the first Premier League season, 1992-93.

David Ginola - Spurs 3-3 Liverpool - March 14, 1998
A goal to match a thrilling game at the Lane and it was typical Ginola, picking up Nicola Berti's pass in the right channel, cutting inside and unleashing a low drive into the bottom corner. It was a crucial point as we scrapped at the wrong end of the table - we started 1997-98 with five wins in 22 but this point contributed to five wins and six draws in our final 16 as we finished 14th.

Chris Armstrong - Spurs 1-0 Liverpool - January 3, 2000
We beat Arsenal, United and Liverpool at home in 1999-2000 and Armstrong's goal was one of the highlights. It didn't look like anything was on when he picked the ball up 25 yards out but he knew differently, arrowing a drive into the top corner.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto - Spurs 2-1 Liverpool - August 16, 2009
The season we memorably qualified for the Champions League - and what a goal to get it all started. Tom Huddlestone struck a free-kick into the wall but Assou-Ekotto was onto the rebound in a flash - and that's exactly how the ball flew into the top corner.

Luka Modric - Spurs 4-0 Liverpool - September 18, 2011
Arguably the Croatian maestro's finest Spurs goal. Jermain Defoe was tackled 25 yards out and the ball ran to Modric who simply leathered it into the top corner, the purest of strikes, leaving the commentator to ask: "Did you see that?"
