Spurs v Liverpool - pick up a programme!

16 October 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

A celebrating Erik Lamela and Toby Alderweireld adorn the front cover of our matchday programme for the visit of Liverpool on Saturday as we bring you another bumper edition.

The pair are pictured following the latter’s goal against Manchester City in our last game at the Lane and this issue includes all the match action from that fantastic victory, as well as from our subsequent draws against Monaco and Swansea City.

Manager of the Month Mauricio Pochettino talks about those matches and the prospect of facing new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in his exclusive column, while Welsh defender Ben Davies is the subject of our main interview as he discusses his delight at helping his nation qualify for next summer’s Euros and gives his thoughts on our own young squad.

Profiles of the Liverpool squad are included, together with a feature on ex-Reds star Phil Thompson looking back at his own history of this fixture, while we recall an Anfield debut for our former Belgian striker Nico Claesen back in October, 1986.

We go even further back in time for our ‘Back Beat’ feature as we explore our clash against Liverpool in April, 1963, through the pages of the matchday programme for that match, while we take a look at what Alderweireld and former Liverpool and Spurs defender John Scales were doing in this week in seasons gone by in ‘Tracking Back.’

There is also a fascinating interview with two grandsons of Bobby Buckle, one of the founder members of the Club in 1882 and captain of our team which played in our first-ever competitive fixture in 1885 – coincidentally exactly 130 years ago to the day on Saturday.

We also catch up with the recent performances of our Under-18s and Spurs Ladies teams, while Dele Alli has the ‘Final Word’ as he tells us what it was like to make his full England debut last week.

Be sure to pick up your copy of Saturday’s 100-page matchday programme – on sale from several points around the stadium and from the Spurs Megastore, priced at £3.50.

Remember, new for this season, MySpurs Members can read free extracts from each matchday programme from four hours before the game.
