Spurs v Leicester - opposing manager's view

28 October 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri believes his players will need to produce a hard-working performance if they're to take anything away from White Hart Lane this weekend.

The reigning Premier League champions have lost all four of their domestic away games so far this term, but their Italian manager has painted a picture of a confident dressing room ahead of Saturday's match on a ground at which the Foxes snatched a late 1-0 win last season.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Ranieri said: “We know it will be a good match against Spurs. They are a good team.

“Last season they were very close to us to fight and also they continue this season to fight for the title.

“There is no secret to beating Spurs, only hard work during the season. Be solid and play together – that’s our secret.

“I expect to go there to fight and to try and win the match.”

We'll once again put our unbeaten league start on the line on Saturday and, assessing our early-season form, Ranieri added: "Tottenham are the only unbeaten team because they have a very good squad and (Mauricio) Pochettino can rotate his players.

“I remember it was a tough match at Spurs (last season), an open match. It will be another tough match for us and for them.

“I’m sure we are getting better. We lost the four matches because we weren‘t so concentrated. Now I believe my players are solid again and will make better matches.”
