Spurs v Hull - opposing manager's view

Wed 14 December 2016, 10:51|Tottenham Hotspur

Hull City manager Mike Phelan says the talents of our players are "abundantly clear" as he prepares to bring his side to White Hart Lane tonight (Wednesday, December 14).

We face the Tigers for the first time since May, 2015, looking to bounce back from Sunday's 1-0 loss at Manchester United – only our second league defeat of the campaign.

Hull have come up short in their last five consecutive Premier League away games and boss Phelan expects another stern test this evening.

“Spurs are a top quality team and never easy to play against,” said the ex-United man, who oversaw a 3-3 home draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

“The qualities they have are abundantly clear and after their disappointment at the weekend against Manchester United, they’ll want to put on a show for their supporters at home.

“Tottenham are progressing year on year and we’re under no illusion that this will be a difficult game for us.

“But we’ve built a bit of confidence on the back of our recent home form. Our away form could be much better and we’re going into a period now when strange things happen. The Christmas period often throws up some funny results and hopefully we can cause one or two of them.”
