Everton 2 Spurs 5

LEAGUE leaders Everton inspired by the prolific Dixie Dean were fully expected to easily dispose of a mid-table Spurs side in this clash at Goodison Park, but Eugene 'Taffy' O'Callaghan who bagged four goals in an emphatic Spurs victory upstaged Dean.

The visitors went in front on 20 minutes through Jimmy Dimmock and went 2-0 up ten minutes later when O'Callaghan intercepted a weak Cresswell backpass before rounding the keeper and slotting home.

The Merseysiders pulled a goal back through Troup after a Dean flick early in the second half but O'Callaghan scored again with a perfectly placed drive before completing his hat-trick on 60 minutes when he linked well with the outstanding Dimmock and slipped the ball past Taylor.

Everton pulled a goal back through Troup, although it did look suspiciously offside but two minutes from time O'Callaghan broke through and scored his fourth and Spurs fifth with a neat finish.
