Sol Campbell v
Martin Keown

The north London derby on Monday will see the clash of two of England's most committed defenders, Sol Campbell and Martin Keown.

The game will give Keown an opportunity to redeem himself after his sending off in last season's corresponding fixture. Arsenal lost that game 2-1, and with Spurs currently enjoying an incredible run of form at White Hart Lane - seven wins and a draw from eight games - Keown & Co. could be up against it again on Monday night.

The former Aston Villa defender will certainly be key to Arsenal's chances. So far this season, he has made 99 headed clearances - more than any other player at the club - and Spurs' forwards will do well to beat him for aerial strength on Monday night.

Keown has also gone in for 32 challenges this term, which is six more than Campbell. But the Spurs man did miss eight games this season through injury and has come out on top in 73% of his tackles compared to Keown's success rate of 72%, so on paper at least, the two players look evenly matched.

However, Keown does appear to have been more effective on the ball than the Spurs star. His distribution has been tidy, as is highlighted by his passing accuracy of 79% - seven percentage points better than Campbell has managed - and the 34-year-old has also been successful with every one of his 16 dribbles and runs. But despite being the Gunners' joint-top scorer in Europe, Keown has yet to register a single Premiership strike this term.

In contrast, Campbell has been hugely effective in opposing penalty areas. The Tottenham skipper has hit the target with 43% of his attempts on goal - 14 percentage points better than Keown - and scored two crucial goals.

Neither player has netted in a north London derby so far in their careers and clearly, both would love to get off the mark on Monday. SpursBET are offering odds of 33/1 on Keown opening the scoring with his first goal of the 2000-01 Premiership campaign, while Campbell is rated at 100/1 to score the only goal of the game, a feat he managed against West Ham earlier in the season.

Despite Tottenham's great home form this term, the Gunners will be slight favourites going into this clash. But with the fiery atmosphere and unpredictability that goes hand in hand with these fixtures, the performances of committed players like Campbell and Keown will be hugely influential to the final outcome.
