Spurs v APOEL - Mauricio's preview

06 December 2017|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino is determined to finish our Champions League group campaign in style against APOEL at Wembley on Wednesday night.

It’s been a fantastic campaign so far with top spot secured in Group H after outstanding performances home and away against Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Victory in Germany last time out means we will top the group from Real Madrid regardless of results in Matchday Six. Holders Madrid will finish second and Dortmund and APOEL will battle it out for third place and Europa League qualification tonight.

Mauricio will rest a few players tonight but knows this will be no gentle final fixture with APOEL needing points.

“First of all, I feel very proud,” said Mauricio. “It’s been a fantastic campaign in the Champions League and now we have one more game to play.

“We’ve finished first, a massive achievement for the team and it’s so important to finish in a good way.

“APOEL will be motivated to play at Wembley and to take one point or three points to qualify for the Europa League. That is why for us it’s so important to play well, to be serious and compete.

“Some players will have the possibility to play and show they can help the team in the future and fight to be a regular. It’s an important game for many players. We’ll play an exciting game and it’s important to enjoy it.”
