Spurs v Anderlecht - Mauricio's preview

05 November 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino lauded the players for their reaction to our defeat at Anderlecht a fortnight ago – now he’s determined to reverse that result when we face the Belgian side again tonight (Thursday, November 5).

The disappointment was tangible as we slipped to defeat in Brussels but since then we’ve registered wins against Bournemouth and Villa in the Premier League.

Now we face Anderlecht again in the second match of three in six days and with the standings so tight in Group J of the Europa League, it’s a game we’re looking to win.

“This is a very important game and we need to win,” said Mauricio. “It will be difficult, Anderlecht are a good team and they showed that in Belgium.

“It’s been a good reaction against Bournemouth and Villa, perfect. The players understand and improved after that. In football, you can use every game to improve and we’re in a good moment now.

“We’re confident we can win with the support of our fans and it’s important to create a good atmosphere at White Hart Lane as we try to get the three points.”

As always, Mauricio is full of respect for our opponents but his focus is how we play.

“It’s true that Anderlecht are a good opponent, a good team but always when I talk to the players, the most important thing is how we play,” he said. “We try to play and develop our game and the focus is on us to concentrate and play the way we normally play.”
