spurs (((on!))) goal flash v pirates 2

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Steffen Iversen showed plenty of six appeal ar ST Andrew's - with his sixth goal in our fourth pre-season game.

And what a cracker it was as well. Iversen collected a reverse pass from partner Sergei Rebrov breezed past City defender, Michael Johnson, and let fly with the outside of his right foot from 25 yards, beyond the reach of Ian Bennett and into the top corner.

It was no less than we deserved after dominating the first half. We enjoyed long periods of possession and it was Ukrainian star, Rebrov, who was particularly impressive.

Surprisingly good in the air for such a small man, Rebrov flicked on Ben Thatcher's long pass after 12 minutes to release Oyvind Leonhardsen.

The Norwegian raced into the penalty area, and was upended only for referee, Paul Rejer, to wve away appeals for a penalty.

Minutes later, Rebrov handed Iversen another good chance with a delicious reverse pass, but on this occasion, the blond-haired hitman failed to control.

Our pressure finally told when Rebrov and Iversen linked for the Norwegian's excellent goal and the home side failed to trouble skipper, Sol Campbell and the rest of his defence.

Indeed, Campbell could have made it 2-0 before the break, but steered his header from Darren Andertons' corner just wide of the upright.

Rebrov was soon in the thick of it again after the break when he beat David Holdsworth, but could only shoot straight at Bennett, from a tight angle.

But the Blues started to improve and had their best chances in a matter of minutes just before the hour mark. First of all, after their best passage of play, City stretched us defensively for the first time to leave Jacques Williams with a good shooting chance 15 yards out - only for midfielder, Steffen Freund to throw himself in front of the ball. Two minutes later Stan Lazariidis' deep cross founs substitute, Jerry Gill, whose header flashed wide with Ian Walker at full stretch.

After three substitution, - Stephen Clemence, Les Ferdinand and Luke Young entering the fray - Rebrov livened proceedings again as his 20 yarder was fingertipped over by Bennett.

As the game petered out somewhat, Nicky Eaden's snap-shot over the bar was the highlight of the closing stages.

The final whistle made it four wins in four pre-season games with 15 goals scored and none conceded.

The next friendly is at Fulham on Wednesday night (7.45pm).
