Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Jamie Slabber and Mark Yeates were the leading lights in a fine 3-1 friendly win for our young Spurs XI at Crawley Town on Wednesday night.
Slabber looked in great shape and was involved in all three goals, scoring the equaliser himself and having a hand in the other two as we came from a goal behind at Broadfield Stadium.
Yeates was also at his impish best until limping out of the action after 68 minutes.
He set up the first two goals and was involved in just about everything going forward until picking up a knock in a tackle.
Mark Hughes played the skipper's role and was a driving force from midfield and Dean Marney was finally rewarded for his raids down the right flank when he bagged the third goal.
We certainly had the edge in terms of possession in the first half but Crawley's defence, marshalled superbly by Billy Rodwell, kept us at distance.
Nevertheless, efforts came at regular intervals and the lively Yeates came closest after 12 minutes when he curled onto the top of the crossbar from 25 yards.
Crawley then created the best chance of the half out of nothing. Holmes found a yard of space on the right, clipped in the perfect cross and Brake will still be wondering tomorrow how he failed to hit the target from six yards.
This was the home side's best spell and they were rewarded with the lead on the half-hour. The goal was simplicity itself - Richardson floated over a corner from the left and Rodwell powered home his header from 10 yards.
No doubt shell-shocked, the lads continued to pass the ball well and carved out a delightful equaliser with 42 minutes on the clock.
Slabber released Yeates on halfway, the Irish midfielder skipped away from Rodwell, carried the ball into the box, looked up and found Slabber in support. The pass inside was perfect and Slabber made no mistake from close range.
Slabber and Yeates combined again as we moved ahead early in the second half.
Yeates started it all with a raking crossfield pass to Slabber, he cut inside Payne before sliding the ball to McKie, who made no mistake as Cronin advanced.
Crawley, combative throughout, then missed another fantastic chance as Armstrong placed the ball a yard wide from 10 yards.
Slabber curled just wide after 68 minutes but the clincher followed 10 minutes later. This time the striker spotted another Marney charge down the right and there was no stopping his low drive into the far corner.
