Spurs in China to identify elite young players
18 August 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Two of our coaches are delivering training camps in China this month to identify elite talent aged 10-14.
A clinic in Nanjing took place over the first weekend in August and engaged over 100 players, with eight children selected by the Club’s Global Coaching team to progress to an elite training camp in Phuket, Thailand, in February next year. A similar clinic will take place in Shenzhen from August 21 – 25.
The initiative is part of the Club’s long-term partnership with Global Principal Partner, AIA, which sees two Club coaches permanently based in Asia to promote health and wellbeing through football.
The coaches have developed their skills using methods delivered within our youth Academy and have been delivering grassroots work across Asia in partnership with AIA since May. After successful projects in Hong Kong and Thailand, this is their first visit to China.
