Spurs hat-trick for Football Aid
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
The club has been highly praised by Football Aid after completing a hat-trick at the Lane since the charity's launch in 2001.
Football Aid is a nationwide event, which allows fans of all clubs to bid for the chance to wear their club colours and play on the hallowed turf of their team, with all proceeds going to charity.
All of the Club’s nominated charities, Haven House Foundation, Cancer Research UK, ORBIS UK and The Prince’s Trust have benefited from the Club’s involvement with the Football Aid programme.
Grahame Paterson, Football Aid’s Executive Director explained why: "Tottenham Hotspur are a highly professional and proactive club and so are a delight to work with from beginning to end. With all their press and promotional support prior to events and their significant help in making the operational side run very smoothly, they have been a great club to work with and a model for Football Aid for the future."
Due to the success of the scheme, Football Aid organisers are now expanding in to Europe with the first European game of the Football Aid International programme taking place in Barcelona at the Nou Camp on 12 July. Here at the Club we were delighted to learn that Football Aid organisers are using their experiences with Spurs as a model for future events.
Grahame Paterson added: "With the support of all the Tottenham Hotspur staff, these events have proved to be amongst the best organised, smoothly run and successful events raising considerable amounts for charity each year, particularly as Spurs do not pass on any costs.
"They cover the event overheads, which include providing kit, stewarding, first aid and catering. This helps Football Aid keep costs to an absolute minimum for this event.
"In addition the active endorsement from Gary Mabbutt, Martin Chivers and Phil Beal has meant a great deal to everyone involved and we are grateful to them and the Club as a whole."
