Looking ahead and back on events on the same day in years gone by.
1945 A hat-trick for Jack Gibbons as Spurs beat Millwall 5-1 in the war time Football League South at the Lane.
2013 We draw 2-2 with Manchester United at Old Trafford where Kyle Walker (pictured, above) and Sandro score for us.
1941 Mike England born in Greenfield, North Wales, and would join us from Blackburn Rovers in August, 1966.
1961 We win 4-2 at West Bromwich Albion as we battle to retain the title.
1932 Willie Evans tripped by an opponent – as he runs up to take a penalty! He scores from the re-take to complete a 7-0 home win over Swansea.
1994 Teddy Sheringham scores three at home to Newcastle United. We win 4-2.
1991 Paul Allen (pictured, below) and Gordon Durie net as we return from Coventry with a 2-1 League Cup victory.
2013 Vlad Chiriches scores in our 2-1 win at Fulham. Lewis Holtby also hits the target.
WEST BROMWICH ALBION v SPURS, Barclays Premier League, at The Hawthorns, 3pm
Grant Ward’s 21st birthday.
1948 Terry Naylor born in Islington. He would join us as an amateur before turning professional in July, 1969.
1996 Steffen Iversen signs from Rosenborg.
1972 Two goals for Martin Chivers as we beat Liverpool 3-1 in a League Cup fifth round replay at the Lane. John Pratt also nets. We go on to win the competition.
1977 Paul McVeigh born in Belfast. He would make his Spurs debut at Aston Villa in April, 1997.
1895 We lose 3-0 to London Caledonians in a home friendly.
2010 Spurs go top of Champions League Group A with a 3-3 draw at FC Twente. Jermain Defoe scores twice.
1990 We draw 3-3 at home to Sunderland. Paul Walsh scores twice. The Black Cats are relegated at the end of the season.
2002 Our first Premier League meeting with West Brom ends in a 3-1 Spurs win at the Lane. Christian Ziege opens the scoring in the third minute.
1995 Teddy Sheringham’s goal is enough to beat Queens Park Rangers at White Hart Lane. Rangers go down at the conclusion of the campaign.
2000 Ledley King scores the fastest ever Premier League – after less than 10 seconds at Bradford City. The match ends 3-3.

1931 Double-winning right-back Peter Baker born in Hampstead. He would join us as an amateur in June, 1949.
1988 Geordie pair Chris Waddle and Paul Gascoigne score our goals in a 2-0 home win over Millwall.
1962 We win 3-2 against Rangers at Ibrox in the first round of the European Cup Winners’ Cup to complete an 8-4 aggregate scoreline. Bobby Smith (pictured, below) scores twice.
1965 Cliff Jones hits two and sets up another goal in a 4-2 home win over Chelsea.
1964 Alan Gilzean signs from Dundee.
1992 Paul Allen bags the winner as we beat Arsenal 1-0 at the Lane.
SPURS v NEWCASTLE UNITED, Barclays Premier League, at White Hart Lane, 4pm
1975 We go down 4-0 at home to eventual champions Liverpool. Steve Walford makes his Spurs debut.
1980 Steve Archibald and Glenn Hoddle share our goals in a 2-1 home win over Manchester City.
1960 Chris Waddle born in Gateshead and would join us from Newcastle United in July, 1985.
2014 A 2-1 win at Swansea City with an early goal from Harry Kane and a late one by Christian Eriksen.
1984 We win 2-1 at Watford where Mark Falco and Garth Crooks share our goals.
2011 Job done in Dublin following a 4-0 triumph against Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League.
1899 David Copeland scores a hat-trick in a 6-1 Southern League win at Cowes – but Cowes subsequently disband and the result is expunged from the records.
1989 Gary Lineker’s goal gives us a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
1980 Steve Perryman among our five separate goalscorers as we beat Ipswich Town 5-3 at home.
2014 Nabil Bentaleb (pictured, below) opens the scoring as we progress in the League Cup with a 4-0 fifth round home win over Newcastle.
1965 After beating Manchester United 5-1 at the Lane a month before, we then travel to Old Trafford – where we lose by the same scoreline!
2004 Jermain Defoe bags a hat-trick in a 5-1 home win over Southampton.
SOUTHAMPTON v SPURS, Barclays Premier League, at St Mary’s Stadium, 3pm
1914 We lose 6-0 at home to Sunderland – and then crash 5-0 at Roker Park in the last match of the season. We go down as the First Division’s bottom club.
1959 Les Allen makes his debut at home to Newcastle. We win 4-0.
1997 We ease our relegation fears with a 3-0 home win over bottom club Barnsley. David Ginola scores twice.
2006 We need an extra time goal from Jermain Defoe to beat Southend United in the League Cup at the Lane.
1895 Our first match as a professional club sees us beat Casuals 3-1 in a friendly.
1996 John Scales makes his Spurs debut in a 1-1 home draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
1991 Paul Walsh and Gary Lineker (pictured, above, with Paul Gascoigne) enjoy goals as we win 2-1 at Crystal Palace.
2013 Nabil Bentaleb goes on as a 50th minute substitute to make his senior debut at Southampton where we win 3-2. Emmanuel Adebayor scores twice.
1962 Terry Gibson born in Walthamstow and would start out with us as an apprentice in April, 1979.
2002 Our final league match at Manchester City’s old Maine Road ground ends in a 3-2 Spurs win. Christian Ziege is sent off in the 86th minute for a second booking, both for dissent.
1904 We are leading 2-1 at home to Southampton in the Western League but heavy rain sees the game abandoned at half-time.
1955 Bobby Smith makes his Spurs debut. We win 2-0 at home to Luton Town. Johnny Brooks and Len Duquemin score.

1956 A festive cracker for Spurs fans at the Lane where we beat Everton 6-0. Terry Medwin and Bobby Smith score two apiece.
2011 Sad news as our former Fifties winger George Robb dies. RIP.

Hugo Lloris’s 29th birthday.
1962 We get our revenge on Ipswich for taking our Championship crown with a 5-0 win at the Lane. Jimmy Greaves hits a hat-trick.
2014 Harry Kane, after 59 seconds, and Christian Eriksen score as we head home from Leicester City following a 2-1 win.
1920 We beat Newcastle 2-0 in the First Division with 54,500 fans packed into White Hart Lane.
2011 A Gareth Bale brace earns us a 2-0 Tuesday night win at Norwich.
WATFORD v SPURS, Barclays Premier League, at Vicarage Road, 3pm
1997 Allan Nielsen nets in a 1-1 home draw with eventual champions Arsenal.
1998 A Chris Armstrong hat-trick helps us see off Everton 4-1 at the Lane.
1984 We stay top of the First Division table with a 2-0 home win over Sunderland. We eventually finish third with Sunderland relegated.
2007 An amazing 6-4 home win over Reading in the Premier League. Dimitar Berbatov bags four.
1977 Kazuyuki Toda (pictured, below) born in Tokyo. The Japanese international would play briefly on loan for us towards the end of the 2002-03 season.
1978 A 1-1 draw at Everton where Peter Taylor nets for us.
Cameron Carter-Vickers’ 18th birthday.
1921 We beat Preston North End 5-0 on our way to a final second place finish in the Division One table, the best by a London club to date.
1932 We end the year with a 3-0 Division Two win at Charlton Athletic on our way to securing promotion back to the top flight.
