Spurs celebrate Year of the Monkey
11 February 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
The Year of the Monkey swung into Spurs with our biggest Lunar New Year celebrations yet taking place around the Club.
From Hotspur Way to White Hart Lane, there have been a host of February festivities as the Club joined the worldwide celebrations for one of the biggest events in the calendar.
Our five first team players born in the ‘Year of the Monkey’ (1992) - Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Heung-Min Son, Kevin Wimmer and Tom Carroll - were at the forefront of the Club’s activity as they helped bring the Lunar New Year to Hotspur Way.
The quintet sent a special Happy New Year video message to our fans celebrating around the world…
Sonny also brought a touch of South Korean culture to the Training Centre as he taught Kevin the Lunar New Year tradition of kite flying…
A special edition home shirt signed by all five players, was given pride of place in the home dressing room at White Hart Lane ahead of our game against Watford, and you can now get your hands on it!
Our Premier League clash against the Hornets also saw a dedicated New Year page in the matchday programme, whilst Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld also sported ‘Year of the Monkey’ training tops at Hotspur Way in the build-up to the game.
The celebrations will continue on our dedicated Chinese social media channels where there will be even more exclusive content and chances to win some great prizes!
