Spurs 5-1 Sunderland - Tim's verdict
08 April 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Tim Sherwood paid tribute to a 'fantastic performance' after our 5-1 win against Sunderland on Monday night.
The team recovered from going a goal down after 17 minutes to dominate the Premier League encounter at the Lane.
We racked up 29 attempts at goal as we completely turned the game around, starting with Emmanuel Adebayor’s equaliser on 28 minutes.
Christian Eriksen was in inspired form, delivered the cross for Ade’s goal and repeated the trick for Harry Kane to cap a fine display in his first start for us in the Premier League with his first goal for us in the top flight on 59 minutes.
Christian then drilled home a deserved goal for 3-1, Ade tapped home the fourth and Gylfi Sigurdsson added the icing on the cake with the fifth in added time.
“I thought we were fantastic and I’m delighted for the players and the fans, it’s been a great night for us,” said Tim.
“We had the setback of giving the goal away but we bounced back well.
“The front three were fluid, we moved the ball around well, controlled the game and could have scored more goals.
“It could have been a sticky game for us. They never give up, but we dominated from start to finish.”
