Spurs 5-0 Swansea - Mauricio's reaction
03 December 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino summed up a dominant performance against Swansea in a sentence. “Today looks like Tottenham again.”
There was certainly a zip in our play, an energy that proved too much for Swansea as we ran out 5-0 winners at the Lane.
We’d already peppered Lukasz Fabianski’s goal before Harry Kane fired home the opener from the penalty spot on 39 minutes.
Heung-Min Son scored a cracker for 2-0 in first half injury time and we were well on our way. Harry scored number seven in nine in the Premier League this season for 3-0 and Christian Eriksen netted twice to put the icing on the cake.
Mauricio speaks to Spurs TV after the 5-0 win
“We were excellent and I’m pleased, very happy with the performance and the three points to be close to the top is very important for us,” said Mauricio. “We needed to feel victory again after Monaco and Chelsea. We fully deserved it.”
Mauricio said pre-match that the squad had really felt the benefit of a first clear week since August - valuable time on the training pitch without a midweek fixture and time to recover.
“I said to you on Thursday that you can feel when the players want to change their levels and it was a fantastic week, good for us to recover the energy and the feeling. It was a great victory for us.”

What pleased you most?
Mauricio: “All of it. How we played, our concentration and determination to win the game. We were aggressive with and without the ball, always tried to play and today looks like Tottenham again.”
How important was it to win after last week’s defeat having played so well at Chelsea?
Mauricio: “Yes, we played very well against Chelsea but today we confirmed that we’ve started to recover our feeling as a team.”
What did you think of Sonny’s goal?
Mauricio: “Sonny’s goal was fantastic and our offensive players have started to score again, that feels very good.”
Can we go on another run now?
Mauricio: “We have a lot of important games ahead and we’re in a good position. We’re out of the Champions League, unlucky, it was a very tough period last month, but I’m happy we’ve recovered our feeling and now we have to keep going.”
