Spurs 4-1 Arsenal U18s - Kieran's verdict

Kieran McKenna praised our Under-18s for their first half performance as we put Arsenal to the sword on Wednesday, winning 4-1 at the Training Centre.

Shayon Harrison got the first two of his eventual three goals before the break – the first coming from the penalty spot – while midfielders Zenon Stylianides and Luke Amos went close to adding to the scoreline in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League contest.

Harrison then completed his hat-trick after the interval, with substitute Ryan Loft making amends for a couple of spurned opportunities by rounding off the scoring with a late penalty after Savvas Mourgos had replied for the Gunners.

Kieran, our Under-18s Coach, was pleased with the efforts of the players on the pitch, although he admitted he saw room for improvement in the second period.

“I thought the boys approached the game really well in the first half and it was pleasing to see Shayon get his hat-trick,” he said.

“I thought the midfield had a good energy to it with Luke and Zenon playing a little bit higher up the pitch and in that period I thought we could have had a couple more goals.

“We could have been more clinical, though. In the second half we were disappointed with the quality of our finishing and to have come out of it with only two more goals.

“Overall, though, it’s another game won and some of the boys have stood up really well.”
