Spurs 4-0 Bournemouth - Mauricio's reaction
15 April 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino was delighted not just with another fine 4-0 win but the nature of the performance against Bournemouth at the Lane on Saturday.
Mousa Dembele got the ball rolling with his first of the season in the first half, Heung-Min Son quickly added the second, Harry Kane made it 20 in the Premier League for the third-successive season just after half-time and Vincent Janssen completed the scoring in added time.
Harry is only the fourth player in Premier League history to achieve that feat and the first Spurs player to hit 20 league goals in three successive seasons since the one and only Jimmy Greaves in 1966-67, 67-68 and 68-69.
What pleased the manager most? “Everything - the way we played, the belief in the way we play, that, for us, is so important. It’s not only to win, but to know how you win. That makes us very proud,” said Mauricio.
“The performance was great, we fully deserved the win and full credit to all the players, I’m very pleased for them and for our fans, the feeling is fantastic every time we play here.”
Records are stacking up for this team and this was our seventh win on the trot in the Premier League, a Club record.
Throw into the mix 12 straight home wins in the league - now equalling the second-best mark in the Club’s history going back to 1908 and with six games to go, we’re up to 71 points, just one behind our best of 72 set in 2012-13.
How does it feel to set a new Club record of seven straight wins in the Premier League?
Mauricio: “It’s a fantastic achievement, we feel very proud and that’s how we all feel, the whole Club. The feeling we have with our supporters is fantastic and I congratulate them all. It’s a big achievement at a massive club.”
What about Mousa’s performance?
Mauricio: “You know my feelings - he’s a genius. Mousa is capable of everything, he’s one of the most talented players in the world. I’m very happy he scored.”
And how about Harry’s feat of 20 league goals in three successive seasons?
Mauricio: “It’ a big achievement for him. I’m happy for him and he deserves all the good things that happen to him, to help the team like he’s helping the team is fantastic.”
