Mauricio Pochettino underlined the importance of the win against Swansea just three days after our final loss at Wembley.
The players bounced back with a key three points against the Swans thanks to goals from Nacer Chadli, Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend.
Nacer opened the scoring with his 10th of the season in all competitions after seven minutes but the visitors levelled against the run of play through Ki Sung-Yeung on 20 minutes.
We stepped up again after the break, took the lead thanks to Ryan’s first Premier League goal on 51 minutes and went 3-1 up through Andros on the hour.
We were in control from there until the final minutes when Gylfi Sigurdsson pulled a goal back and Hugo Lloris was forced to turn away Federico Fernandez’s late header to secure victory.
“It was a very important win,” said Mauricio. “After the final it was a difficult moment but we recovered our feeling after this victory.
“We played well, it was a great performance and congratulations to the players although it was a strange feeling at the end with that big save from Hugo.”
Asked what was said at half-time after the players came out with renewed vigour in the second half, Mauricio added: “I don’t want to explain too much, but we fixed something and in the second half we were better and deserved the three points.
“It was a great performance and I’m happy with the effort. It’s never easy, we’ve played a lot of games and I’m happy with the squad, the effort has been brilliant from the start of the season.”
