Spurs 3-0 Stoke - Tim's verdict
29 December 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Tim Sherwood was full of positives after our 3-0 win against Stoke City in the Premier League on Sunday.
A dominant performance at the Lane - underlined by a 20-2 count on efforts at goal in our favour - was rewarded with goals from Roberto Soldado from the penalty spot, Mousa Dembele’s 20-yarder and a dipping volley from Aaron Lennon.
We’d already carved out a number of chances when Roberto opened the scoring from the spot in the 37th minute and we led 1-0 at half-time.
Mousa’s low drive into the corner doubled the lead on 65 minutes and it was all over when Aaron hit the goal of the day four minutes later.
“I thought we were excellent from start to finish and I’m really pleased with the performance,” said Head Coach Tim.
“Individually, there were some outstanding displays. Paulinho was immense in the centre of the pitch with Mousa Dembele, Zeki Fryers came in for his full debut and was excellent and Kyle Naughton didn’t put a foot wrong.
“It’s really hard to single out individual players though because there were so many outstanding performances.
“We deserved to win on Boxing Day and we could have been sitting here with nine points from three games. It was great to get that home win as well, that was really important.
“It’s great to play well, win the game and it could have been more. We’re all delighted.”
