Mauricio Pochettino told us that Victor Wanyama had been on the end of a bit of stick this week after his miss at Old Trafford - the midfielder had the perfect response as we ran up another impressive home win, this time 3-0 against Hull on Wednesday night.
Victor headed wide with the goal at his mercy as we lost 1-0 at United on Sunday.
On a night the team were determined to hit back, Victor did so on a personal level as well.
Christian Eriksen scored twice - that's five goals in four games for the Dane - and the Kenyan put the icing on the cake with a close-range finish for third and final goal after Christian’s free-kick came back off the post.

Victor was straight over to the bench to celebrate. “The staff have been giving me stick, saying there’s no point me going to the goal because I keep passing back to the keeper and not scoring,” he explained.
Mauricio added: “Yes, in a funny way we’ve killed him a little bit, but in the same way we said ‘okay, in the next game you must score, you need to score’.
“He came to the bench with Jesus, Toni and Miguel and it’s important for the player. It was funny and I’m happy, the third goal helped us to be more comfortable in the game and end with a good feeling.”
Hull had their moments but you always felt our defence - three at the back on this occasion with Eric Dier joining Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen - would keep the Tigers at bay.
Thoughts on the win…
Mauricio: “It was a tough game, it always is in the Premier League. I’m happy, very pleased to get the three points to stay close to the top four. We are fighting and there is a long way to go to the end of the season, but it was important to get the three points.”
The first goal was at the end of a 30-pass move, does that underline we’re playing well?
Mauricio: “Yes, and we played with a different formation, looking to use our full-backs more as wing-backs and that worked well. In some periods of the game we played well and that was fantastic in the way we scored. I’m very pleased because we’ve come through a very busy period with a lot of games and to keep the level, the fitness and the mentality is always difficult but we’re dealing with that.”
Christian is in fine form…
Mauricio: “I’m very happy for him. He nearly scored the third as well, it was an unbelievable free-kick. I’m happy for Victor Wanyama too because he missed a big, big chance at United. I’m happy for the players, we suffered a lot after Manchester and it’s good to recover the feeling of winning games.”
