Spurs 3-0 AFC Wimbledon - Mauricio's reaction

07 January 2018|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino only had words of praise for the squad after completing three games in five days with a 3-0 victory over battling AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The team from League One fought every inch of the way at Wembley and it wasn’t until the 63rd minute that we finally broke through with Harry Kane converting Moussa Sissoko’s cross.

The second followed just over a minute later, Harry again, this time pouncing on Kyle Walker-Peters’ deflected shot and it was three goals in eight minutes when Jan Vertonghen rifled home his first goal since October, 2013. Job done.

“It's so difficult to play in the FA Cup, so tough and AFC Wimbledon played so well,” said Mauricio.

“It was a solid performance from us but full credit to them because they tried to play, they created a few chances, were strong and it was difficult to beat them.

“In the end, our performance was good and we deserved to win but it was a tough game.

“I’m so pleased with everyone because to keep the (level of) performance and effort after such a busy week is difficult. Of course, for youngsters like Kyle (Walker-Peters) and Juan (Foyth) they are learning and improving and it's so important for them to play this type of game to get more experience.”
