Spurs 3-0 AEL (5-1 agg) - Mauricio's verdict
Fri 29 August 2014, 01:15|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino was pleased with a 'good job' in our Europa League play-off, second leg against AEL Limassol.
Goals from Harry Kane, Paulinho and Andros Townsend secured a 3-0 win on the night and 5-1 win on aggregate against the Cypriot side in front of almost 30,000 at the Lane.
Harry opened the scoring just before half-time after missing an earlier penalty, Paulinho bagged his first of the season on 49 minutes before Andros’ spot-kick following handball on 65 minutes.
With Andros completing 90 minutes and first starts of the season for Sandro, Vlad Chiriches and Mousa Dembele, there were plenty of positives for Head Coach Mauricio on full-time.
“We did a very good job,” he said. “I’m very pleased with the performance of the players and the team. It was 3-0 and our objective is done.
“Harry has a very good character. He missed the penalty but that’s football. He tried to score again and then scored.
“We’re happy with Vlad and Sandro and I think it’s very important we have a good squad and all players are important for the team.
“I’m also pleased for the supporters who came along. I’m very happy.”

The draw for the group stage of the competition takes place at noon on Friday.
The play-off winners join 10 losing teams from the Champions League play-offs plus teams now entering to make up 48 teams in the group stage.
The 48 teams are split into four seeding pots based on UEFA's coefficient system, with one from each drawn into the 12 groups. No side can meet another from the same association. Once the draw has been completed a computer draw will determine the final position of the clubs within their group and therefore the order of the home and away matches.
