Martin Jol made five changes from the line-up - Ledley King made his first start since Boxing Day and was joined by Aaron Lennon, Didier Zokora, Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane for Ricardo Rocha, Paul Stalteri, Hossam Ghaly, Mido and Jermain Defoe. Teemu Tainio to started at right-back with Stalteri out. Fit-again Danny Murphy and Lee Barnard were amongst the seven substitutes.
