Spurs 2-1 Burnley - Mauricio's reaction
18 December 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino spoke about the belief of the players after a big pre-Christmas win against Burnley on Sunday.
Burnley made light of their away form - no wins in seven and one goal scored on the road before Sunday - to ride out our early storm and take the lead on 21 minutes. By that time, we’d had 10 efforts on goal.
It was a shock to the system but the team recovered within six minutes when one of Kyle Walker’s many raids down the right led to Dele Alli converting a cross from close range.

It was then all about Danny Rose. The left-back had a storming game and capped it with the winner, collecting Moussa Sissoko’s pass and going for pure power with the strike home from 10 yards on 71 minutes.
“The way we conceded was a little unlucky but we feel very pleased because the players always believed, they never lost their faith in trying to win,” said Mauricio.
“It was a good performance, it’s always hard to win in the Premier League and congratulations, it was a big performance and a big three points for us.”
Mauricio on that belief
“That is football, and that is the Premier League. It is one of the best leagues in the world. You never have complete control of the game. We started well, created lots of the chances but if you don’t score sometimes you can then concede, we conceded but the most important thing is we came back, scored twice and maybe could have scored more.”
Mauricio on Danny Rose
“It was a brilliant goal and a very good performance. In the last few games he’s really showing his quality and I’m very happy, very pleased.”
Mauricio on the full-backs
“We play in a system that finds the best for them, we try to provide the tools for them to show their quality and we’re happy, in the last few games they are showing high quality.”
