Hugo Lloris refused to let himself get carried away after Saturday’s victory against Crystal Palace.
While naturally delighted after another home victory, our French stopper was in philosophical mood after the game.
And in a display of admirable humility, the 27-year-old emphasised the need to ensure continued improvement every time we take to the field.
“We are happy because we got three more points but we are a bit frustrated and disappointed about our performance today because the first half was not what we expected,” said Hugo post-match at the Lane.
“They (Palace) put us in danger and they had some chances to score but thankfully at half-time the score was 0-0 and we were still in the game, so that was positive.”
Saturday’s 2-0 win yielded a second consecutive home clean sheet for us – something Hugo sees as a big plus as we carry our tally of 13 points from a possible 15 into next weekend’s match at Swansea City.
“It’s always good mentally to get a clean sheet, especially today because we were struggling at times,” our goalkeeper added. “We had good moments in the game but we had some bad moments as well.
“We allowed them some opportunities to score and we were maybe a bit lucky to not concede a goal. But we won the game and that’s positive.”
