Spurs 2-0 Leicester U18s - Kieran's verdict

Under-18s Coach Kieran McKenna praised a number of individuals after Saturday’s 2-0 win over Leicester City.

Ryan Loft’s second half penalty was added to when skipper Chris Paul lashed home in stoppage time as we rounded off our Barclays Under-18 Premier League southern division campaign with a hard-fought win at the Training Centre.

Goalkeeper Tom Glover had earlier saved a penalty from Leicester’s Admiral Muskwe – something Kieran identified as one of the key moments of the game.

“The first half was difficult, played into a strong wind against a physical and older Leicester team who came to press us so I thought we defended well in the moments we had to – although there were not really many chances,” he explained.

“Tom’s save was a turning point. He’s got a really good record at saving penalties and for him to step up again and make a really good stop maybe changed the course of the game.

“After that, it was good for Nick Tsaroulla to come in and make his debut, and it was a really strong overlapping run from him that earned the penalty.

“Ryan Loft tucked that away and I thought Chris Paul showed a real positive intent all game. He looked to play forward, to run forward and he showed some good leadership so it was pleasing for him at the end to pop up with his goal.”
