Spurs 2-0 Hull - Mauricio's verdict
16 May 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino described our goals as ‘fantastic’ as we signed off from White Hart Lane for the season with a 2-0 win against Hull City on Saturday.
Erik Lamela and Eric Dier went closest for us in a tight first half while Hull struck the woodwork through Nikica Jelavic.
The first goal was always going to be key and we delivered 10 minutes into the second half.
Erik Lamela picked up the ball centrally and threaded a perfectly-weighted pass through to Nacer Chadli, who glided past advancing Steve Harper before slotting home his 11th Premier League goal this term.
We doubled our lead just after the hour mark with another fine strike as Ryan Mason chipped a pass for Danny Rose to volley into the top corner with his right foot.
“The two goals we scored were fantastic, great action,” said Mauricio.
“I’m happy for the players and for the supporters because they deserve this last victory at home.
“The first half was difficult because Hull were very aggressive but I think we deserved it in the end.
“It was important after two defeats at home to recover this good feeling and I’m happy but we need to keep working because we need to try to win the last game at Everton.”
Erik’s performance certainly caught the eye and Mauricio added: “I’m happy for Erik, his assist for the goal was very good. It’s always good when you win and those three points were most important today.”
