Spurs 1-0 Hull - Sandro stresses importance of win

28 October 2013|Tottenham Hotspur

Sandro insisted the win was all that mattered after we saw off Hull City at the Lane on Sunday.

Roberto Soldado’s 80th minute penalty secured a 1-0 Premier League victory in the first match of a home double-header against the Tigers, with Steve Bruce’s men set to return on Wednesday night for a Capital One Cup tie.

Brazilian Sandro, who started the game alongside fellow countryman Paulinho in the heart of our midfield, admitted it was tough to secure maximum points – but was glad that we got there in the end.

“It was hard. A game like this we have to win,” said the 24-year-old.

“It’s just important to win. We have to win every game at home.

“A lot of teams that come here just stay at the back, so every game at home will be difficult, like this. We have to always try, to fight, to win.

“There is not another way to say it.

“There are a lot of games coming but everyone is happy because it was hard, but we won.”

Sandro also felt Roberto Soldado was a worthy match winner after he kept his composure to score from 12 yards with the clock ticking down.

“He’s the penalty man!” Sandro exclaimed. “He’s so good. He deserved it.”
