Spurs 1-0 Hull - Andros hails our persistence

Andros Townsend admitted we found it difficult to break down a packed Hull City rearguard on Sunday – but said we deservedly picked up all three points.
Andros was once again in exhilarating form down the wing in our 1-0 victory and, despite suffering a late scare when he crashed over the advertising hoardings when chasing a ball to the byline, he was relieved to see us win the match thanks to Roberto Soldado’s penalty 10 minutes from time.
“In matches like that the main things is the three points,” said the 22-year-old.
“It was difficult against a team that sets up with five defenders and four midfielders, all behind the ball.
“It’s difficult and sometimes it will take 70, 80 minutes to get the goal.
“Thankfully, we got the goal we deserved because we were the only team going for it.
“We tried to play the football, the opposition wouldn’t let us with their system and tactics, but our persistence paid off and we got the win, that’s all that matters.”
Such was Andros’ threat down the flanks on Sunday, he often found the Tigers’ defenders doubling up on him in a bid to contain him.
But ever the down-to-earth character, Andros acknowledged that it’s something he’ll have to get used to as his promising career path carries on.
“If I want to be a top player it’s something I’ve got to work on,” he added. “I’ll have to deal with teams setting-up with two players on me.”
