Spurs 1-0 Everton - Win means everything to Hugo

After pulling off another world class save against Everton, Hugo Lloris admitted it would have meant nothing if the team hadn’t claimed three points.
The agile Frenchman sprang to his left to keep out Leon Osman’s arrowed drive in the first half of Sunday’s 1-0 victory – leading to comparisons being made to his superb stop from Sergio Aguero in the recent reverse against Manchester City.
But after his latest heroics, Hugo revealed he can only enjoy the feeling of making a fine save if we’re in front when the full-time whistle blows.
“For your mind it’s important when you make a save and help the team stay in the game,” he said.
“If you win, you have the sensation that you did the job. But when you make a nice save and you lose, it means nothing.
“This time, it’s on our side and I’m happy for the team.”
Our charismatic stopper went on to explain how he felt it was positive we were level at the break on Sunday – allowing us to kick on and win the contest in the second period thanks to Emmanuel Adebayor’s clinical finish.
“The first 10 minutes were difficult,” Hugo continued. “Everton pressed well and had some good chances to score but they didn’t take them and 0-0 at the end of the first half was good for us.
“We stayed positive and Ade scored an important goal in a tight game between two very good teams. It’s a good result.
“The save helped us to stay in the game, but we have to congratulate every player. It wasn’t easy and there was pressure. Every game is a big fight for qualification for the top four.”
