Spurs 0-2 United U18s - Kieran's verdict

Kieran McKenna said our Under-18s struggled to recover after conceding a second goal to Manchester United on Saturday.
Red Devils front man Marcus Rashford fired his side ahead in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League clash at the Training Centre after a corner caused a goalmouth scramble.
We remained very much in the contest after that, but Under-18s Coach Kieran saw Rashford’s second goal of the match 10 minutes before half-time as a significant blow to our young side’s endeavours – the visitors ultimately running out 2-0 winners.
“Throughout the first half we played well up until their second goal,” he reflected. “I thought we had good control of the possession, we solved the tactical problems quite well in terms of them playing 3-5-2 against us, we got our full-backs out, created overloads down the sides and I thought we were in reasonable control of the game.
“Their second goal knocked the stuffing out of us a little bit and for the 10 minutes before half-time I thought they were well on top.
“United were very difficult to break down after the break, we played with a lot of character for a young side and the intent was good but maybe the execution in the final third wasn’t quite there to break down a very resolute defence.”
