Paul Brush admitted our Under-21s found it difficult to impose themselves on Manchester United on Monday.
A second half goal from James Wilson gave the Red Devils a 1-0 victory in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League at White Hart Lane.
And it was a lack of ruthlessness on our part that coach Paul was left to rue.
“Unfortunately when you concede at the time we did, probably from their first shot, it really perks up the opposition to keep going and keep chasing,” he assessed.
“Although we had a great deal of possession, we really weren’t ruthless enough in and around the penalty area and probably didn’t work the goalkeeper as much as we should in the 30 minutes or so after they scored.
“We’re disappointed we weren’t clever enough and clinical enough to get more shots on target and more quality crosses into the box.
“There’s more work to be done now, but you’ve got to give credit to Manchester United. They played a very compact game and to play between them and get in and around them was a difficult task.”
