Spurs 0-1 City - Mauricio's verdict
03 May 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino felt we deserved more against City on Sunday.
We created a host of chances - 21 efforts at goal - only to be denied on numerous occasions by Joe Hart who most notably kept out Ryan Mason, Harry Kane, Paulinho and Erik Lamela.
The best chance arrived as early as the second minute when Eric Dier headed wide from Christian Eriksen’s corner.
We went in at the break with 13 shots to City’s seven - but crucially, City scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game in the 29th minute, a quick break from our corner that ended with Sergio Aguero firing into the top corner.
We gave our all in the second half but couldn’t find a way through with substitute Paulinho heading just wide and forcing another fine save from Hart, who then turned over Lamela’s volley in added time.
“I feel disappointed, not frustrated, but disappointed about the result because the performance was good and we deserved more,” said Mauricio.
"The effort was good, we managed the tempo, we had possession and we moved City around but we were stopped by Joe Hart. We were a little unlucky.
“We created lots of chances against a very good team like City but as always in football, it’s about the small details. That’s what makes the difference.
“It’s difficult to explain because now the feeling is bad but the performance was good. I’m proud of the players.”
“We have three games left, we need to keep this feeling going and next time, try to do better.”
