Special treat for young Ruben

Sat 28 February 2015, 08:05|Tottenham Hotspur

Here is a heartwarming story ahead of this Sunday’s League Cup Final...

Chelsea fan Paul Silver-Myer saw it fit to give up his own pair of tickets to a family friend, 12-year-old Ruben Qassim, who has leukaemia.

However, Ruben is a keen Spurs fan, so Paul contacted the Club to find out if there was any way that the tickets could be transferred from the blue to the Lilywhite end of the stadium.

Although this was not possible, one Club staff member, who prefers to remain anonymous, was so touched by the gesture that they gave up their pair of tickets for Ruben and a companion in the Spurs end, enabling Paul to keep his for the Chelsea end.

It means Ruben will get the chance of a special day out at Wembley, and Paul can enjoy the game safe in the knowledge that his decision to contact the Club has led to this opportunity.

All local rivalries aside, a story like this goes to show how the game can bring people together and provide moments of happiness to those less fortunate.

From everyone at Tottenham Hotspur, we should like to wish both Ruben and Paul a great day at Wembley - no matter what the result!
