Special goal - Clint
Clint Dempsey was delighted his first goal for Spurs and first against United meant so much.
The USA striker scored our third goal in the middle of a crazy two-minute spell in the second half of our 3-2 win at Old Trafford.
We led 2-0 at the break after an outstanding first half performance, United made it 2-1 in the 51st minute only for us to hit back straight away with Clint tapping into an empty net after Anders Lindegaard palmed out Gareth Bale’s shot.
United came straight back and scored again for 3-2 with 35 minutes remaining.
They threw everything at us after that but we held on for a famous victory to move up to fifth in the Premier League.
“I’ve been in England five-and-a-half years and it’s my first time getting a result here (at Old Trafford) as well, and my first time scoring against them,” said Clint.
“It was a great time to open my account and the importance of the game made it even more special.
“I thought we played some great football in the first half, created some good chances and got a result by scoring two goals.
“In the second half United were a different team. It was difficult for us. We did a lot of running and when you are doing that, it makes it even more difficult to try to keep possession.
“At the end, I was back on the bench and I was just praying, hoping we could see it out. The boys worked hard, blocked shots and showed great character. I think we deserved the win."
