Sound Offs: Back three

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Nicolas Perrot: I think Bunjevcevic (he is the defender with the best technical abilities we have) and Richards (the most solid) are definite starters. Perry, Doherty, Thatcher & King are all in contention for the third spot although I think Perry has the edge on the others. One thing is sure, if a defender goes out of form or gets injured, Glenn has talent to replace him. Let's forget for example Thatcher's comeback and impressive end of last season even though we would have all thought he would never play again for Spurs.

Joshua Chang: King and Richards definitely, alongside one of Doherty or Gardner. Both these guys are young and talented, and the one who is on best form should start. Perry and Thatcher are decent back-up. Bunje, I feel, could do a good job in front of the defence - because he is defensively minded, he can shield the back three. This allows the wider two of the three to mark the opposition wingers, allowing Ziege and Davies to attack.

Chas Newman: Three from this line-up is a diffcult choice, but the class acts must be Gardner, a fit Bunjy and likelwise Doherty, all intelligent defenders capable of instigating an incisive attack from the back. King and Richards can supply additonal brains and brawn as a fallback. Get Freund off the couch and back on the pitch. Unglamorous he may be, but we lost something essential in midfield after his injury in December without his tenacious
harrying and ball-winning skills - Sherwood is no fit substitute these days.

Kiernan Johnson: I would play King, Bunjy and Gardner. I would play thes three simply because they are our three best central defenders. It's hard to leave out the doc and Thatcher had an excellent time in the second half of the season but, the three I've picked show the most promise, I'm very impressed with Gardner and think he will be as good if not better than King.
