Sound Off: Strikeforce 2
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
We asked what your preferred strikeforce would be for next season — below is the second and final batch of your responses.
From Tim Bechervaise, Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire: In my view Teddy Sheringham, Sergei Rebrov and Les Ferdinand should make the forward line for Spurs, every single one of them has the experience and quality to make Spurs great again. Okay, Sheringham and Ferdinand are in their 30's, but so what? They are still as good as they have been, and if you look in the past, Ferdinand is the third highest goalscorer ever in the Premiership while Sheringham was outstanding last season and got what he deserved with his two awards. Rebrov is one of the best strikers in the world and has got the quality to take round players, create goals and score goals, all the ingredients needed for a strikeforce no defence would be able to handle - quality, skill and experience.
From Joachim Barstein, Oslo, Norway: I would put Steffen, Rebrov, and Les on top with Teddy as a link between the midfield and the strikers.
From Bradley Baum, Mill Hill, London: Personally I think that there should be a minimum of two (but preferably three) strikers on the pitch. The only question is who? Well one is obvious as he is the perfect link-up player between mid-field and attack. I dont think there has been any one Englishman as great in this role as Teddy Sherringham (not in recent years and not since he turned pro either). What the Sound Off question should be asking is who to play with him. Well I think Sergei Rebrov and Chris Armstrong would be perfect (especially as their different styles all compliment each other). If, however, just two are to be played then a pairing of Armstrong and Iversen would be fantastic (again because their differing styles suit each other). If you have two players on with a similar, or the same playing styles (Armstrong and Ferdinand spring to mind) it becomes too easy for opponents to work out how to nullify and neutralise both strikers. In this way Teddy can become our much needed supersub, like he was at United. Every team has a supersub - even the great ones!
From John Wrightson, Harrogate: It's got to be Sheringham and Rebrov for me. I am sure he can do for Rebrov what he did for Klinsmann.
Pardeep Dhami, Hanworth, Middx: My strikeforce for next season would be Rebrov & Sheringham. It’s been a while since Spurs have had 2 quality strikers around the place (Sheringham & Klinsmann) and I think together they are capable of producing 35-40 goals between them. ENIC - Lets get Poyet in and playing behind them and I see an attack that will even worry the Red halves of Manchester, Liverpool & North London.
