Sonupe's forward focus

Emmanuel Sonupe thought our Under-21s’ attacking endeavours warranted more than just a point against Manchester City on Monday.
The wide man marked his return to the starting line-up with a goal as we battled out a 2-2 draw with the Sky Blues in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League at Hotspur Way.
After Shaq Coulthirst had responded to Bersant Celina’s opener for City, Emmanuel, who has produced a number of impressive performances from the bench in recent weeks, fired us ahead after latching onto Andros Townsend’s ball in from the right.
It was his second goal of the season and, although it was ultimately cancelled out by Angel Tasende in first half stoppage time, he felt the team could have pushed on and won the game after pressing City back for spells during the second period.
“We had some really good parts of the game – when we were pressing and attacking from up top I thought we looked really good,” he said.
“We were getting loads of crosses from Kyle (Walker-Peters) and Andros and maybe we could have flooded the box a bit more – me as well – and got on the end of some of them, but credit to City because they defended quite well in their box.
“Personally I’m very happy because I’ve been trying to get in the starting line-up and I finally started and scored so it’s good for me on a personal level.
“Sometimes in defence we could have done a bit better but we had a lot of chances ourselves and we should probably have taken them at the end.”
