Roberto Soldado gave an honest assessment of his form after taking his goal tally into double-figures against Stoke.
The striker slotted home from the penalty spot for his 10th goal in all competitions this season – five in the Premier League, five in the Europa League.
But the Spanish international wants more.
Was he happy with 10 so far? “No, not really,” said Roberto, involved in both goals in our New Year’s Day victory at Old Trafford.
“I had two or three more chances I could have scored against Stoke and I’m just hoping to put them away in the future and increase the goals I score over the remainder of the season.”
It was suggested to the Spanish international that his honesty showed the high standards he sets for himself.
“I scored 24 goals for Valencia in a very difficult league and the Premier League is very hard as well,” added Roberto, who is forming a promising strike partnership with Emmanuel Adebayor.
“I want to get up to 20 goals if I can and I’m going to work very hard to get my level up to that. It’s a good platform (10 goals so far) to work from.”
