Sol: I want to stay

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Sol Campbell has given the clearest indication yet that he will pledge his future to the club.

Our super skipper - currently on World Cup qualifying duty with England - is available on a free transfer under the terms of the Bosman ruling at the end of the season.

But he has insisted already this season that he would prefer to stay at his only professional club and the big defender is set for talks with the new board in the near future.

Sol said: "Over the next week or two I'll be meeting with the new owners and there will be discussions about different situations at Tottenham Hotspur.

"They want to be successful so we've got to talk and see where we want to go as a club. These things take time. You can't rush them. I've had a couple of talks already and things so far have been positive.

"I'm not looking to move if they convince me about the future. I want to stay at Tottenham.

"Whether or not a new manager is in place is not a big thing for me. As long as the club is healthy and things are in place, then myself and other players will want to join Tottenham or continue with them.

"I want the club to do well and that's the main thing for me. If Tottenham is in a situation where they want to do well then people are going to want to join in and that includes me.

"They've (the new board) got a blueprint for the future. I want to see that blueprint and then make a decision."

The England international revealed that he has not considered talking to other clubs, and he'd like nothing more than to win things at Spurs.

He continued: "I've been at Spurs 10 years now and I have been loyal to them. I've not spoken to any other clubs. I'm happy for me to do well for Spurs. That would mean a lot and is more important than any other offer.

"I've been through four managers now but the main thing is keeping us winning and moving up the league and there's also the FA Cup semi-final still to come.

"What happened has not been a distraction. You can see that by the performance we put in against Coventry. We've just got to move on. You can't really stay in the past.

"All the best for George Graham in the future but we have to improve ourselves as players and as a team."
