So Klose for Caulker
Steven Caulker almost made the perfect return to first team action against SS Lazio on Thursday night.
The young defender was selected for his first start of the season and first since the League Cup tie against Arsenal in September, 2010.
Having kept legendary German striker Miroslav Klose quiet and registering a clean sheet, Steven looked like he might have won it when he met Gareth Bale's corner and powered home a header in the 70th minute.
Unfortunately, the goal was ruled out for a foul on Lazio defender Giuseppe Biava as it stayed goalless in our Europa League, Group J opener at the Lane.
"Klose was fantastic in his movement and cleverness around the box but I thought myself and Jan were aware of that and defended at our best," said Steven.
"Lazio sat back, were hard to break down and were good on the counter–attack. We had to be on our toes and from a defensive point of view, it was great to get the clean sheet.
"I thought we were unfortunate not to get the win but we'll take the point and look to push on.
"We'll re-group, get back in training and now work hard for QPR on Sunday."
