So Keane to break record
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Robbie Keane hopes to break the Irish goalscoring record as soon as possible - to stop people going on about it!
Keano levelled Niall Quinn's mark of 21 goals when he buried a penalty against Cyprus in the first round of World Cup qualifiers last month in what was only his 53rd cap.
However, he'd been hovering around the 18, 19 mark for a while and, he revealed, the subject of that record hadn't been far away in just about every interview on Ireland he's had in the last year or so!
"I'm proud of it, of course," said Robbie before departing Spurs Lodge last week. "When I scored my first goals against Malta back in 1997 I never believed at the age of 24 I would have equalled the record and hopefully soon beat it. I say hopefully because so many people ask about it!"
Having said that, he's well aware of a perfect scenario on Saturday - how about breaking the record with the winning goal against France in Paris?
"It would be nice if I did score," he smiled. "The win is most important but if I score, great."
Meanwhile, Calum Davenport featured for England under-21s on Friday night in their 2-0 victory over Wales at Ewood Park. James Milner and Darren Bent netted the second half goals.
