Sixth sense for Spurs Ladies
17 April 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs Ladies need a point at Coventry United today (Sunday, April 17) to finish sixth in the FA Women's Premier League.
Having landed silverware for the first time in four years earlier this week, the ladies look to secure sixth place, their second-highest finish in the FAWPL after last season's fifth.
A point would do it but it would still take quite a turn of results for chasers C&K Basildon to overhaul Spurs - they are six points behind with two matches remaining but have a 17-goal worse goal difference and have to travel to Cardiff City, three defeats all season, in their final game.
Still, Karen Hills does not want to leave anything to chance and will look for that point in a tough final test at a Coventry United side currently third with only two defeats in 19.
"It's a difficult game but ideal in many ways because they are good side and that means we can't afford to take our foot off the pedal between our cup finals," said manager Karen.
"The players were superb in winning the Ryman Cup on Thursday night and they know we have to keep pushing. We've two finals after this and places are still up for grabs."
After Coventry, they face Charlton again in the Capital Cup Final at Wingate & Finchley FC on Thursday, April 27 before the season's finale, the League Cup Final against Cardiff at Kidderminster Harriers FC on Sunday, May 8.
