Sir Alf medals under hammer

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Caps and medals once belonging to former Spur and World Cup winning England manager Sir Alf Ramsey are to be auctioned at Christie's in September.

The collection spans Ramsey's entire career, from his days as a professional domestic player to his crowning glory with the England team in 1966.

The 61-lot collection being offered by Ramsey's family is expected to raise more than £50,000 and includes 20 international caps.

Auctioneers say a silver gilt-medal celebrating our victory in the 1950-51 Division One Championship could fetch £5,000.

"It was Sir Alfred's wish that his collection be made available to his many supporters during his 50-year footballing career," Sir Alf’s widow said in a statement on Wednesday.

Ramsey began his professional career at in 1944 at Southhampton and arrived at the Lane in 1949, making 250 appearances before embarking on a managerial career at Ipswich Town in 1952. He died in April 1999 at the age of 79.
