Simon stays

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

With Gus Poyet returning from suspension Simon Davies admitted to harbouring some doubts about his place in the team for the trip to Sunderland - he stayed in still looks the part.

A change of shape, possibly forced by injuries, accommodated both Gus and Simon and our Welsh international has now played four games on the bounce since making his first start of the season against Southampton.

"I was delighted when I saw the teamsheet and found I was playing," confessed Simon. "A different shape, 4-4-2, to what we've been playing, I played on the left and enjoyed it.

"It's going alright for me. I'm enjoying it and it's good to be playing again and it was a great win against Sunderland - hopefully it bodes well for the future."

Despite his stylish and committed performances that have made him a firm favourite with the fans, Simon insists that there is more to come from him as his game develops.

"I think I can play a lot better personally, but I've been in the team and trying to do the job as well as I can do and I think it can get better for me.

"I'm delighted to be in the team and with two tough games coming up, victory over Sunderland was important."

Simon made his Spurs debut the season before last at Anfield and, although a boyhood Manchester United fan, he says he feels no added edge facing their fierce rivals.

"No, I put as much into any game, but when you're playing against teams like Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal with a great history, massive clubs, you probably get a bit more nerves. They are huge games and we've got to be pushing for points from them."
