Simon ready for German test

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Simon Davies believes Wales are on the verge of something big - and hopes they can prove it against Germany tonight.

Our star midfielder is expected to earn his eighth cap in the friendly in front of a packed Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Simon is one of a group of youngsters alongside the likes of Craig Bellamy, Mark Delaney, Matthew Jones and Jason Koumas who, blended with the experience of Ryan Giggs, John Hartson, Robbie Savage and Gary Speed, are hoping to take Wales to the finals of a major tournament for the first time since the 1958 World Cup.

The target for Mark Hughes' men is Euro 2004 and, as Simon points out, victory against Germany would be the perfect boost for the first qualifying match against Finland in September.

Simon said: "It should be a great game in front of another big crowd. For a few years there hasn't been that much happening in Wales but now everyone believes we have a genuine chance of doing something in the qualifiers and that's great for the country.

"We believe we can do well. We've got a chance of doing something and if we can beat a team like Germany it would be a great boost for us before the European qualifiers.

"It's all about belief. A good result would set us up nicely for Finland.

"I love going away with Wales and playing. It's a great bunch of lads, great atmosphere, great team spirit and that's why I believe we could do something this time around."
